In the style of a good Malmsey, this has a distinctly sweet, fat palate with a sharpness so typical of Madeira. An affordable introduction to a classic style or a good option for cooking.
The carefully measured and controlled ingredients on this wine all combine to achieve its qualities of aroma, smoothness, body, noncloying sweetness and colour. Matured for three years in old oak casks at recommended temperatures it improves significantly and is ideally suited to serve as a desert wine. with cakes and coffee. Like other wines of this type it is liable to throw a natural sediment, especially when submitted to low temperatures. However the quality of the wine is in no way affected. Should it be necessary, pour the wine carefully leaving any natural deposit in the bottle.
