Award winning handmade cheese by the Eyres family on Abertanat Farm

Robert, Rena and three sons Stuart Ryan and Ian, a dairy farming family began cheesemaking in 2007 as the 3 sons finished at university, college etc. looking to add value to the milk.

We are now all employed on the farm either cheesemaking and marketing or milking cows.

Our farm traverses the Shropshire Welsh border.  We take pride in controlling the cheese making process from field to plate. We have Salsa with cheese accreditation.

Fresh milk is piped in the morning from the farm dairy to the cheese dairy where it is pasteurised before processing into cheese by Robert or Ian.

Cheese descriptions

Shropshire Red is a rich smooth textured russet coloured cheese suitable for slicing and grating.

Marches Farmhouse Blue  is a moist creamy delicious cheese made from a recipe developed by Robert Eyres. We have named it for the Welsh Marches region in which we farm.

Shropshire Farmhouse Blue  creamy russet coloured cheese with greenish blue veining and a natural rind. This is a cheese mostly made by Stilton makers in Eastern England but we are pleased to bring it home to Shropshire.

Abertanat Cheddar   Our own cheddar made at Abertanat

All our cheeses are suitable for vegetarians.

A tasty slice of Shropshire and the Welsh Marches
